IRIS We sat together till the gloaming fell, The twilight gaieties of evening joy Made mask of nothing as the choral bell Rang pulses of her temper coy. I reached my hand out to her sparkling heart And touched the childhood sunshine in its prime And rocks iridescent - the hidden part Of memories that have filled my time, I took her out of the worldwide hive To show the frozen stars and molten sun, She caught me in the hairnet silk to rive The link to where the hell seemed done, That time we left the shore where shadows twirled In the pre-sunset calmness of the past, And far beyond our fate we have been hurled To see the beam for souls blessed. We played the careless game behind the veil - The waterfall of dew-drops fenced my bliss, Beside the soaring of the clouds frail The fluid light has swirled our ease, Inside its gleaming cascades we did swap The varicoloured necklaces of splash, We walked along the sacred downward slope And reached the edge of rapture flash. In through the calm of the forbidden room With windows opened up in summer night She carried me away from usual doom, Down to the Aeon of the Quiet, Unfathomable waters endless tide Has led us to the depth of tranquil hours, Beyond the bound of oblivion, deep inside The inter-confidence of ours.
